Kappa Bashi
October 24. Kappa Bashi (or Kappa Bridge) is the symbol of Kamikochi, a small town located in the Northern Japan Alps. It was originally built in 1872, and crosses Azusa River. It's unknown how the name of the bridge came about, but some say kappa used to live there. Kappa images and souvenirs can be found throughout the area. More on that later...

Kitaro Chaya
Kitaro Chaya is located right in front of Jindaiji Temple in Chofu. The shop is based on the animation series "Ge Ge Ge No Kitaro" and features a tea house, gallery, and character shop. The atmosphere here is amazing, not only because of the detail in the decoration, but also because of the surrounding area. Jindaiji Temple is just a few steps away, and there are several craft shops and soba restaurants nearby. We spent a couple hours here today in the rain, but I think you could easily spend a whole day just wandering around and relaxing. And it's cheap too. The character shop stocks loads of Kitaro goods, figures, stationary, clothes, etc., and the tea house offers several Kitaro themed dishes. Lots of fun!
