Kappa Ten

A few pics from Kappa Ten. There's a nice variety of work at the event, from paintings and ceramic figures, to toys and a piece of kappa skin that guests are invited to touch. Above is Matt Alt's Kappa Machinder, a custom kappa style Jumbo Machinder inspired piece.

Kappa Ten

I have just about finished preparing for Kappa Ten. Kappa Ten is art exhibition featuring work inspired by kappa. This show will feature a variety of artwork, paintings, figures, etc. by a small group of kappa-krazy people (including Matt Alt of Yokai Attack). This should be a fun event. I will be displaying a few custom Tokoji Seijin figures as well as some photographs. Kappa Ten runs from July 9th to the 21st in Ikebukuro (click map above to enlarge). An opening reception and kappa-maki party will be held on Saturday, July 11th from 5:00 to 6:30. The party is open to the public so please stop by!

Kappa Springs

We spent a few nights in Tateshina this week, and on the way there found Kappa no Yu (Kappa Springs) in a small town called Chino. Kappa Springs seems to be a major attraction in the town as there are signs all along the main street. It's a typical Japanese public bath featuring natural hot springs, and more importantly kappa statues out front!

The Legend Of Kappa

I found this attraction (Kappa-san no Mukashibanashi Kan) at the Hitachi Seaside Park in Ibaraki the other day. The ride was like a Japanese style haunted house with kappas throughout. Out in front was a beanbag toss game, where you had to throw beanbags onto kappa's heads, and a kappa fortune telling machine.
