First Snow

Got up today to some snow left over from very early this morning. Now it's just raining. This was the first time it has snowed this winter in Tokyo. Last year it was pretty warm and we didn't see any of it. I hope we see a little more before spring.

Killer Koi (Doitsu)

This is my part of the Killer Two Pack with Bwana. Bright red and black on clear milky white vinyl. No two alike, each one unique, just like real carp. To be released later this week to members of my mailing list. Watch your mail for order information.

Stop Killing Killer's Friends

Two members of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society were recently released by Japanese whale poachers after being held hostage for several days. Sea Shepherd had been following their ship and boarded in an attempt to deliver a message regarding their breaking of international conservation laws and the international ban on whaling. Though they were able to halt the slaughter only momentarily, their actions brought a lot of attention to the issue. Unfortunately though, the Japanese media has labeled them as “terrorists” and refuse to mention the fact that Japan was in violation of Australia’s ban of Japanese whaling ships in Australian Antarctic Territorial waters.

In support of this and future actions against Japanese whale poachers (the real terrorists), I will be donating a portion of the Killer Two Pack sales to Sea Shepherd. I fully support their actions and hope every Japanese whaling ship sinks to the bottom of the sea.

Tomy Kappa!

Believe it or not, but this Kappa is a candy toy! These were released a few years back by Tomy, in their Daiei Tokusatsu (Motion Picture) Series. Kappa is based on the character from the Great Yokai War movie, released in 1968. This was included in the second Daei Tokusatsu candy toy series, which also included 3 different versions of Daimajin, and Nuppeppo (also from the Great Yokai War). The figures stand about three inches tall, and have a very vintage feel, inspired by the original Marusan soft vinyl figures.

Koenji Kappa!

Kiyoka and I spotted this while shooting photos for the Gargamel new year's card a couple weeks ago. Just a few minutes from Thrash Out, I was suprised we hadn't seen it before. I still can't quite figure out why he's there either...

It's a custom in Japan to send out new year's cards to everyone you know. This includes family, relatives, friends, customers, clients, and so on. This year, Gargamel sent their card in this plastic box, along with a cute soft vinyl mouse figure!

Happy Year Of The Rat!

Happy New Year! It's now the year of the rat, and Kitaro Chaya had some special Lucky Bags for the occasion. These went on sale at midnight, and three sizes were available. We got a large (limited to only 6!), and a medium. Lots of Kitaro and Nezumi Otoko (Rat Boy) items inside, including a big pillow, figures, notepad, a cool tote bag, much more. It was a pretty cold night (one degree celsius), but good fun.
