Last Day
We head up to Los Angeles from San Diego yesterday and have been spending most of our time eating, shopping, and visiting friends. We met up with Kiyoshi from Drunken Master zine yesterday, and Pete and Carl from the LA Skull Krew today. Lots of fun and food. Tomorrow I am heading to the east coast while the remaining Gargamel team heads west to Tokyo. I will later return to California for the River Children show at Super7 which opens on August 9. I hope to see some of you there.

SDCC Closes
After four and a half days, the San Diego Comic Con finally came to a close today. We all had a lot of fun, met a lot of friends and new faces, ate too much, and sold most of our toys. Thanks to everyone who stopped by. In the end, I think we did pretty well. So well we've already decided to come back next year. See you again in 2009!

Some SDCC Action
San Diego Union-Tribune
Still at SDCC. Got some coverage in today's San Diego Union-Tribune. I talked a bit about Gargamel, Japanese vinyl, Tokoji Seijin, and kappa. They did a pretty good write-up on the second page of the arts section of the paper. Some good sized photos, but I look nuts. View the article online, link below.

At SDCC
Things are hectic at SDCC as usual. The Gargamel booth has been doing pretty well with Martin's Oni Ojo figure selling out and Tokoji Seijin and the Mini Zagoran Tank close behind. We've been having a lot of fun meeting friends, trading toys, and making new contacts. Thanks so much to everyone who has stopped by. Tomorrow is the big day, tickets are sold out and it will be completely packed. I believe we will sell out of a few more items then, so if you're interested in anything it might be a good idea to visit the booth soon. And don't forget to say hi.

Nurse Flash-it
Visited Junko Mizuno today and traded toys. We talked a bit about summer heat, art, travel, kappa, and of course toys. She is now working on a My Little Pony figure for an exhibit at the Hasbro booth at SDCC. It's super cute so be sure to stop by and see it. These are pics of Junko's Nurse Flash-it 8 inch Qee figure. And by the way, if you haven't checked out The Kappa Show at Moshi Moshi, do it now!

Junko Mizuno's "The Kappa Show" is now happening at Moshi Moshi in Portland, Oregon. The show features Junko's amazingly cute and sexy Kappa characters with kappa maki, brains, guts and more. You need to check this out. Runs until the beginning of August. For those not in Portland, see Junko's work and pics of the show on her blog. Purchase original Kappa artwork online at Moshi Moshi. New Stuff
Got Matt Alt's new book the other day, Yokai Attack! This is the first detailed book on Japanese Yokai (ghosts, spirits, monsters) written in English. The book features profiles of the most popular Japanese yokai, fully illustrated, and done in a fun, easy to read layout. Definitely worth checking out if you're either into yokai, or living in Japan. You can see more of the book on Matt's blog, link below. And that's Garuban (Galvan?) on the left, a funky scrap metal creature from the Captain Ultra series.

Today
Got my international driver's license this morning. Pretty easy to do but it's annoying having to do it every year. On the way back, I got a pic of this crazy apartment building. Not sure what the story is on this but it's pretty nuts. Must be difficult arranging furniture inside. I locked myself in my room the rest of the day, preparing for the San Diego Comic Con and my show at Super7 next month. Got a few pieces done and decided on an upcoming Tokoji Seijin colorway. More info on that later. Today's soundtrack included Das Oath, Kid Dynamite, Mastodon, and Tragedy. Tragedy has to be one of the best hardcore bands rocking these days, highly recommended if you haven't already heard them. Later in the evening I head over to Gargamel's studio to put the finishing touches on the SDCC Tokoji Seijin exclusive. I'm pretty excited about this release. Info and photos to come.
