Le Merde + Cometdebris
I got to paint a little with Le Merde while he was here last week. We worked on a light pink Tokoji Seijin figure. Mike and I both did a little spraying, color coordinating, and face detail, Mike added the pupils, and I finished it off with a little splatter.

Le Merde, Yokai, and Kappa
Today was a free day, so we head over to Kitaro Chaya and Jindaiji (see previous posts). Took a nice walk, had some snacks, and did a little yokai shopping. From there we stopped by Kappa Sushi for some more snacks, then Nakano Broadway for some toys. The day ended at home, where we collaborated on a custom painted figure. More on that later. Le Merde's show opens tomorrow!

We Are Brothers
Le Merde's "We Are Brothers" show is all set up and looking good. Mike brought a pretty good number of custom figures, both resin and soft vinyl, and all done up in a variety of candy colors. In addition, he has some original artwork, prints, and other surprises. Le Merde's new Bangal soft vinyl figure will also debut at the event. We Are Brothers opens Saturday at 2:00 and runs through the 27th. At Thrash Out in Koenji. Click HERE for a map.

Gargamel Kaiju Art Show
The Gargamel Kaiju Art Show opened today at Shinjuku Marui One department store. I still haven't visited, but I hear the "gallery" space is pretty small. The show includes custom painted Gargamel figures done by Gargamel and friends, and original artwork and prints, all available for sale. I did the two pieces above for the event, a clear purple Tokoji Seijin figure and glow standard size Zagoran figure. Runs through April 14th.

David Horvath's Live Art
Saw David Horvath's live painting and drawing today at Shibuya Loft's Pop Box event. Along with Devil Robots, David painted and drew some of the cute and crazy characters from his ugly universe. Pop Box Pop Culture Bazaar showcases several artists, showing their work on goods or character items. Runs through March 22nd.

Artshocker Show Tokyo
Artshocker Show Tokyo opened today in Yotsuya. Considering the gallery is located in an old elementary school, it's now a bad setup. The custom figures are displayed well in showcases, and artwork is displayed right above. The event features artwork and custom figures by a good array of artists from Japan and the states. Some of my favorites from the show included Martin's custom Zombie Ojo, Mr. Nishimura from M1's custom Tokoji Seijin called "Kappa Seijin", Butanohana's plush monkey in a plane, and Universal Pooyan's Globby with biker's jacket. The show lasts until Sunday. Definitely worth a visit, lots of fun stuff to see.

Kawazu Sakura
Took a short trip down to the Izu peninsula to see cherry blossoms. Kawazu Sakura, a brighter pink variety of cherry blossom, blooms much earlier than the typical cherry blossom. And the nice thing is no one really knows about them, I don't think there are many in Tokyo. No crowds! It snowed quite a bit the night we were there which made driving a little hard, but exciting at the same time. It snowed through the night, but didn't last long, it was almost gone in the morning.
